Description
Application Students will mail their Flat Stanley to a friend or relative and tell about his travels using a Discussion Board.
Benefits
Students enrolled in the WIsconsin Virtual School use Blackboard as their course management system. This allows students to contribute to the discussion and form their ideas. The Blackboard discussion area can be used as one main discussion for all students or you can break students into groups to use it. Students can post onto the discussion board anytime they have access to the internet.
Challenges
Unless students have been enrolled in online classes prior to 3rd Grade they probably have never seen or used a discussion board. They will have to get assisstance from parents or instructors depending on where they are taking their classes.
Learning Objective
Students will write their thoughts about the travels of Flat Stanley on the discussion board. They will post about the travels of their Flat Stanley and reply to the posts of at least two other students, according to the rubric provided.
